Gluten-free pastry shop in Rome: artisan desserts for people with celiac disease, also available to take away

If you're looking for a gluten-free pastry shop in Rome, you'll find it at Pasta in Corso. At our 4 restaurants (soon to be 5, with a fifth location opening soon in the Vatican/St. Peter's area), we serve gluten-free desserts every day with zero risk of cross-contamination, made in a dedicated laboratory using carefully selected ingredients to ensure complete safety for people with celiac disease.

Since August 2025, Pasta in Corso's entire gluten-free dessert range has been handmade in our dedicated laboratory in Piazza dell'Orologio and delivered fresh every morning to our 4 locations in Rome, where you can reserve desserts, enjoy them on site or purchase them to take away.

This means one production facility and 4 (soon to be 5) locations where our desserts can be enjoyed or purchased.

Pasta in Corso has become a go-to destination for anyone looking for gluten-free desserts in Rome, whether to enjoy at the table or take away.

The advantage is twofold: on the one hand, you'll find artisan desserts to enjoy at the table with a good coffee, for breakfast, or simply at the end of a meal. On the other, you can also buy them to take away, choosing your own selection of pastries or desserts directly from our dedicated refrigerated display counter, where every dessert on display is gluten-free. Zero risk of cross-contamination and the same variety you would expect from a traditional pastry shop.

Some of our desserts, such as tiramisu, profiteroles, lemon delight and strudel, are particularly popular because they can be difficult to find in a truly delicious and convincing gluten-free version, both in terms of appearance and the texture and flavour of the pastry. At our restaurants, located in different areas of Rome, you'll find around 36 completely gluten-free desserts every day. From tiramisu to brutti ma buoni, from tarts to rocher, as well as mousses, lemon delights and many other gluten-free treats.

Where to buy gluten-free desserts in Rome

Finding desserts for people with celiac disease in Rome that are artisan-made, not pre-packaged, and produced in-house isn't always easy. At Pasta in Corso, our desserts are made every day in our central laboratory in Piazza dell'Orologio and then distributed to our restaurant locations, so anyone looking for gluten-free desserts in Rome can find them at several locations across the city, all easy to reach and close to Rome's main attractions.

The same artisan quality, consistency and satisfying taste, whichever location you choose. You can find our gluten-free pastries every day, Monday to Sunday, from 7:00 am to 10:30 pm at our 4 restaurants in Rome:

  • Pantheon – Via della Maddalena 43, in central Rome.
  • Corso Vittorio Emanuele II 273, just a few minutes from the historic heart of the city and close to Trastevere.
  • Monti-Colosseum – Via dei Serpenti 9, around 400 metres from the Colosseum.
  • Cavour – Piazza Cavour 17/b, in the Prati district.

The last of these is particularly important to us. Located in the Prati area, it is the "mother" of our gluten-free pastry shop. This is where we first started making our gluten-free desserts. It was our very first dessert-focused project, one we are particularly attached to and where it all began.

What gluten-free pastry really means

When people talk about gluten-free pastry, many simply think of desserts made with alternative flours. In reality, the subject is much more complex. In traditional desserts, gluten contributes to the structure of pastry bases, sponge cakes, shortcrust pastry, cream puffs and baked doughs. Without gluten, texture, elasticity, stability and the way the dough reacts during baking all change.

To create desserts that are truly satisfying, it isn't enough to remove one type of flour and replace it with another. Recipes need to be rethought, different flours carefully balanced, and hydration, fats, sugars, preparation methods and baking times all need to be studied. In addition, when products are intended for people with celiac disease, everything must be prepared safely, in a separate laboratory, using dedicated utensils and precise procedures designed to prevent any risk of cross-contamination.

That's why a true gluten-free pastry shop in Rome doesn't simply offer desserts that are "suitable": it works to create desserts that are delicious, balanced and faithful, in both texture and flavour, to the experience of a traditional dessert.

This variety allows us to satisfy anyone looking for specific, rare or particularly carefully crafted desserts, whether to enjoy at the restaurant or purchase to take away.

Over the years, we have seen that some desserts are requested more often than others, both because they are much loved and because they can be difficult to find in a truly well-made gluten-free version. Among the most popular are tiramisu, profiteroles, lemon delight and strudel.

Tiramisu

It is one of the great classics of Italian pastry. In our gluten-free version, coffee-soaked sponge cake is layered with mascarpone cream, maintaining the right balance between softness, creaminess and the intensity of the coffee, with the classic dusting of cocoa to finish.

Profiteroles

It is one of the most complex desserts to make well because it requires the right balance between the outer structure, filling and glaze. We offer chocolate, pistachio and hazelnut versions, filled with zabaglione Chantilly cream, which is deliciously indulgent and particularly popular.

Sorrento Lemon Delight

This is another dessert that is difficult to find in a gluten-free version. The sponge cake needs to remain soft and well soaked without losing its structure, while the Chantilly cream needs to be fresh, balanced and not too heavy.

Strudel

Made with apples, pine nuts, raisins and cinnamon, it is a dessert that is rarely found in a truly well-made gluten-free version, because the structure of the pastry is delicate and requires careful preparation. In the video published on our social media channels, our pastry chef explains how profiteroles, lemon delight and strudel are among the most popular desserts, both for their flavour and for the technical difficulty involved in making them.

How we make our gluten-free desserts and prevent cross-contamination

Our desserts are made in a separate laboratory, using dedicated preparation processes. This is the crucial point, because for anyone looking for desserts for people with celiac disease in Rome, how good the product tastes matters, but safety matters even more. Production takes place in a separate environment, using dedicated utensils and precise procedures. The flours used for our bases and doughs are selected after testing and preparation trials, precisely because every dessert has different requirements: shortcrust pastry does not behave like sponge cake, and a cream puff does not behave like a strudel. To prevent cross-contamination, we work with:

  • a separate laboratory
  • utensils used exclusively for gluten-free preparations
  • working procedures designed to prevent contact with ingredients containing gluten
  • highly skilled staff with years of experience in producing gluten-free desserts
  • careful control of raw ingredients
  • separate management of preparation processes
  • a no-gluten philosophy, born from a deeply responsible and thoroughly tested approach to gluten-free cooking, supported by our network of restaurants located across different areas of Rome and operating for several years
  •

This allows us to guarantee desserts that are safe for people with celiac disease while maintaining quality, structure and flavour.

Gluten-free desserts to take away

Gluten-free desserts can also be purchased to take away. This is one of the aspects most appreciated by those who don't just want to eat at the restaurant, but would also like to take home an artisan gluten-free dessert.

When you walk into one of our restaurants, you are effectively also walking into a pastry shop. With refrigerated display counters dedicated to showcasing all our pastries.

Our takeaway service allows you to purchase individual desserts or several items, depending on availability that day.

The desserts are served on specially designed pastry trays to prevent them from being damaged during transport.

In the case of specific requests or larger quantities, such as for birthdays or parties, it is always advisable to order in advance, so that the desserts you want will be ready at the most convenient location and in the quantity you require.

Having four locations in central Rome also makes collection for immediate consumption easier, especially for those looking for gluten-free desserts in central Rome, gluten-free desserts in Rome's Prati district or desserts to take away near some of the city's most popular areas, such as Trastevere or the Colosseum. 50% of the takeaway desserts currently purchased at Pasta in Corso are eaten while strolling through the streets of central Rome.

Why many people with celiac disease choose Pasta in Corso

Here are the 4 main reasons.

  1. The first is safety. As we are a completely gluten-free restaurant, all preparations are handled according to procedures designed to prevent cross-contamination.
  2. The second is quality. Desserts are not just a minor addition to our menu, but an important part of our identity. They are made in-house and created to be genuinely delicious, not simply suitable for people with celiac disease.
  3. The third is variety. We don't limit ourselves to the most common desserts, but also offer more unusual options that are harder to find in a gluten-free version.
  4. The fourth is convenience. Thanks to our four locations in central Rome, you can enjoy our desserts at the table or purchase them to take away.

Reviews from guests who have tried our gluten-free desserts

Many customers choose us specifically because they are looking for a gluten-free pastry shop in Rome where they can find artisan desserts rather than pre-packaged products. In reviews, words and phrases such as delicious, finally, hard to find, and incredibly good even though it's gluten-free come up again and again.

In particular, profiteroles, tiramisu, lemon delight and strudel are among the desserts that receive the most positive comments, both for their flavour and because they are difficult to find in a truly convincing gluten-free version.
